Use local tools for exact content
Templates and structured builders turn your entries into Markdown in the browser. Reading, formatting and exports do not consume AI credits.
These builders are included with Paid document authoring. Free document access remains reading and export.
Quote, preview, then insert
Open AI assist, select a supported content type and supply the material it should organize. Check the credit cost before pressing Generate.
A successful generation spends the quoted credits even if you decide not to insert it. Failed or invalid output returns customer credits. The result stays a preview until you choose to insert or replace content.
Understand the shared allowance
Paid includes 300 monthly credits per paid seat, pooled by workspace. Annual subscriptions also replenish monthly; included credits expire at the next monthly boundary.
Paid workspaces can purchase 1,000 additional credits for $10. Purchased credits do not expire, but spending them requires active Paid access. See pricing and seat rules.
Keep external model billing separate
A connected MCP tool uses its own model account or subscription. Connecting an agent does not add a Chessboard seat or give it permission to spend hosted AI credits.
Use the app’s quoted AI actions when you want Chessboard-hosted assistance. Use your connected tool’s own billing controls for work performed by that tool.
